Happy Prime Day!!!

July is basically a new year for the planner community. It is the time that we move into our July also known as an Academic Year planner. New planners get a chance to join the community and OG planners are tweaking their current strategies, so that they have a good start for the "new year". Honestly for me It is just my time to start over and fresh, and I love that more than anything. As business grows, my son gets more active, church duties increase, it is important that I continue to have a planner and system that works best for us. So let's talk about the planners that I am using and why!

*** Not in any particular order.

Erin Condren Life Planner - Binder (horizontal)

Erin Condren Life Planner Binder

I was seriously excited when Erin Condren told us that they were coming out with a new style of planner for this year. Don't get my wrong the coil was always good to me, but it was something so appealing for me to be able to add in different inserts and remove pages as well without compromising my planner. That is how I ended up going from an Erin Condren to a Happy Planner, but I still missed my Erin Condren Life Planner.

Erin Condren Life Planner Binder

So The binder was right up my alley. The binder gave me the flexibility of the Happy Planner, with the style and grace of the Erin Condren. The binder has its own style of punched holes, so it gives you a brand new experience. I have decided to use this planner for my business and so far I am really loving it. I can't wait to implement some different styles of planning into it as well.

Hobonichi Weeks

Hobonichi Weeks

I was determined not to hop on this train, but who am I kidding! When a new planner wave comes out, I honestly feel like I have a duty to check it out and see what all the hype is about (No no one gave me that responsibility either lol). I fell in love with this little planner. It truly meets my on the go needs.

I wasn't sure if my "big" handwriting would be able to fit on the pages, but it does. I have even found ways to decorate and make it super functional as well.

I even recently decided to get an additional Hobonichi Weeks Mega to use as an on the go business planner. I want to be able to jot down my thoughts and stay on track of things while I am on the go. The Hobonichi Weeks Mega, has more notes pages, which allows me more room for brain dumping. In essence, Hobonichi Weeks for the WIN!

Erin Condren Petite Planners + Foxy Fix A5 TN

The Petite Planners give you all the Erin Condren Feels , but in a smaller size. I love the selection of planner inserts and notebooks that the line has to offer. I currently am using my Erin Condren Petite Planner as a hodgepodge for daily activities, monthly tracking, and budgeting. The Monthly Planner has become my favorite because it gives me the same flexibility of the Deluxe Monthly Planner, but in a more portable size.

Petite Planners in Foxy Fix

So I use the monthly planner for my budgeting planner. This has really been working for me and I feel like it has really helped me to stay more on top of things in regards to my financial planning. I can jot down notes for months ahead and even look back at previous trends.

I decided to house the petite planners in a Foxy Fix A5 TN because it was a little more sturdy and I found some really cute colors. I currently have 6 strings in my TN so I am able to fit 6 of the petite planners in there. The only issue with that is that it makes it super chunky and heavy. Takes away from the complete portability of the planners, BUT YOU CAN'T TELL ME TO LEAVE BAE just yet!

Erin Condren Life Planner - Hourly

This is my planner that I will use for work. I have been using an Hourly for a while now at work and it has truly helped me to stream line my days and even weeks. I effectively plan my day with work and appointments, and track what I do.

I love this because I can move things over to the next day, and I honestly just feel more organized at work. I do not normally decorate the planner, but sometimes I will add in a quote or some deco stickers to spice up the spread. Now that this years' adds more hours, I am interested in seeing how I will fully be able to use this planner.

Erin Condren Hourly and Vertical

Erin Condren Life Planner - Vertical (Colorful)

Yes yes another Erin Condren Life Planner, I know I know, but hear me out. This is perfect for memory planning. Some weeks I only have time to pen and paper in my catch alls, so this planner will give me the flexibility to go back in and memory keep. I think this will help me be able to be creative on and off camera. Sometimes, I just want to go to a Planner Meetup and plan like everyone else, without worry about if I should have recorded this or not, or even just being able to sit down and play with my stickers. Not only that, I can use a lot of the kits that I get for PR. So for me its a Win Win!

Erin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner

To be completely honest, I plan to use this planner to brain storm for content creating. This may sound like a repeat of my business planner, but My business planner encompasses the to do's and not necessarily the planning processes.

So to help me plan out content and brainstorm ideas or just take notes the Deluxe Monthly Planner, will really help me that. Now that I am really getting into branding myself and trying to stream line all of my content, I think it is so important to be more intentional with planning out content and creating a a creating process.

You may be wondering chileeee, couldn't you just do all of this in one planner? Well yes I probably could but I have found that I am and can be scatter brained and the more that I tried to put all of the things together, the more overwhelmed I would become with planning all together. So to keep me organized, I am separating some things and being more intentional.

BET Awards 2019

It has been a minute since BET was able to truly grab my attention with an award show. Normally, it’s just back ground noise as I completed other tasks, but this year it was different. I wasn't just watching for tweetable petty moments, I was truly tuned in for the culture. I don't know if they got new producers or just made a decision to to really do it up this year, but something was refreshed this time. From Regina Hall's epic parody of the Beyonce produced Homecoming Film, to Offset doing a full dance number, to Tyler Perry's motivating speech, to Mary J Blige bringing out the HITZ and the heavy hittas, this years show was worth every bit of my viewership.

So let's recap my personal Top 5 highlights of the night. (For warning, I can not promise there won't be any shady or petty highlights below. I can only be me lol)

1. Regina Hall

DID HER THING! Some of the jokes were only if you were from the DMV area, but still she definitely earned a spot at top hosts for this awards show. I love that they allowed her to truly use her craft and make things fun for the audience. It was a vibe and not a forced vibe the whole entire show. I think tonight really gave people the "stop confusing me with Regina King" finger. We may all be black girls, but we are not the same. This hosting gig truly solidified that for her.

2. Offset and Cardi B

Can we have a real honest moment? I wasn't mad at this slick dance routine that Offset pulled off. It wasn't Chris Brown, but for a rapper, he really got some untapped potential. Cardi B looked good in her Princess Jasmine attire. I genuinely enjoyed the performance, and might I say I wouldn't mind an Offset/Cardi album? A 8 song EP would probably be a banger. Remember I suggested here first (well first for me).

Lizzo Playing The Flute During Her Performance

3. Lizzo

"I just took a DNA test, turns out I'm 100% that b*&^h" .... All I could say was YAASSSSSSS. So I had just been introduced to her via a facebook group post, but I had no idea how good of a performer she was. Let me tell you, she did it for girls all around the world. She showed sooo much confidence in her performance, you couldn't help but feel the energy and join the wave.

Even Rhi-Rhi was on her feet for this performance. Then as though singing and dancing wasn't enough, my girl gave us a flute solo! A flute? A flute? Whew chile, talk about next level, I personally don't know anyone with enough wind to do all that dancing and singing and still have enough left to play the flute. I'll wait if you can find me someone doing it. If you haven't already added her latest album to your playlist, you are going to want to go ahead and do it now. You won't be disappointed by her upbeat soulful sound.

4. Tyler Perry

Listen you can say what you want about Tyler Perry, but you can't call the man broke. He truly has a started from the bottom testimony (so fitting that they would play this while he walked up). He is a billionaire but refuses to let that title sit him down. Not only did he build his own studio, he built his studio in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Atlanta. But the story is even greater, because this is where a Confederate Army Base once was. Where there was once a fight to keep out

Let that sink in. Not only did he make it but he provides opportunities for people to cross. He wanted Black Women to know their worth and how important they are. The key takeaway for me came from his interview footage when he talked about being successful. "If you want to make it and continue to make it, Work like you're broke". I felt that on a spiritual level-- Never get comfortable in where you are.

5. Mary J Blige

Mary Mary Mary. Don't get me wrong, I have always been a Mary J fan, but last night really showed me why. First of all, who you know doing their own COMPLETE tribute? It was a little shaky at first (probably just the quick wardrobe change), but she brought hit after hit after hit. She is truly an icon. Still trying to figure out why Rhi Rhi of all people was the one to present her award to her (no shade at all, just don't see the inspo. But who are me to judge?). So not only did she take us back to the 90's, she also gave us all the meme inspired dance moves. Proudly, I might add.

But it was when she brought out the special guests that really got the crowd rocking. First of all she brought out black Lil Kim again! Lil Kim looked good and sounded good (minus needing a few more rehearsals for breathing purposes). Then Method Man Fine self came out and I Lost it! Yes I literally lost it sitting there home alone in my bed. The thought behind this whole performance was everything.

Honorable Mention:

*Burna Boy's Mom: When she came up to accept the award, I had no idea she was going to leave us with a whole message!

She said "Every black person should remember , you were Africans before anything else".

*Nipsey Hussles Family : I don't think that I will ever personally get tired of seeing Nipsey's Family. I love their united front on his behalf. Now many people were confused by Mama Nipsey's speech, but we all have to remember that not everyone is a public speaker.

She wanted to let everyone know her current state of mind and that she hopes everyone else can reach some sort of resolve as well. She is very adamant about making sure people understand her stance on the situation and her feelings. It doesn't always translate over the best but her intentions are pure. BET must have gave her the wrap it notice because she didn't even finish her last thought. Best part was Papa Nipsey basically telling her "Leave Me Be Woman", when she was trying to get him to speak into the mic by grabbing his face.

*Lil Nas X:

Literally its just something about the old town road that gets the people going. The smooth mix of country with trap, is an instant banger. But more than just one song he really is embodying his country trap roots. He has the boots, vest, and hat to match. He is an inspiration to his generation to continue to think outside of the box and never get boxed in. On top of changing the game, he even got Billy Ray Cyrus to perform at the BET Awards... whew I know Nashville is up in arms about this one.

So after watching it or getting the recap of this years award show... are you here for it or nah?
